Colposcopy

A detailed examination of the cervix following abnormal cervical screening results.

Colposcopy is recommended when a cervical screening test shows abnormal results, such as the presence of HPV 16 or 18, or persistent changes. During the procedure, a clinician uses a special microscope (colposcope) to closely examine the cervix after applying acetic acid and iodine to highlight abnormal cells. If necessary, a biopsy is taken for further analysis.

The procedure is done in the rooms, and while you may experience some spotting or discomfort, most people can return to normal activities shortly afterward.
